Liam Scales to Aberdeen reports.

Must admit to be surprised at the timing of letting scales go to the Sheep.
That's us now down to Jules and Welsh as back up for CCV and starfelt as things stand.
Still got no idea about Jules with his return from injury and Welsh never really looked to comfortable with Ange style of play imo last season.
Would have thought scales would have been the most suitable back up as a left sided CB with potentially been the most natural available within the squad.
Still think getting a potential loan signing in as cover in the left CB role hopefully is in the offering still and maybe a better decision can be made in a year's time, to get a potential troublesome position sorted out with more confidence than we have at present
Thank god for Welsh then. I fancied Scales as our left sided CB. I believe he would be a much better option wilt Welsh and starfelt as backup. I guess we are still looking for a new CB, I just hope it is not a loan. Geez, imagine having a ball playing intelligent Left sided CB. Then again we could have starfelt.

We all know about your dislike of starfelt virgo, but still haven't got anyone worthy of taking his place as things stand, and not like its warrented either imo.
Yet today's game depends upon a full available squad, and could easily have cost us badly last season as there is becoming less points available to start dropping at present.
So a potential injury to Starfelt still leaves us at present without a back up to him that I could feel very confident about, and this still without a natural left sided CB still.
Like yourself thought scales could have suited that role, but maybe now it's something for the season after next, but it's next season where the focus has to be, and hopefully cover or competition for that position can be improved before the start of the season still imo.

Liam Scales played 2nd tier League Of Ireland football until 2020, played 1 season in the LOI Premiership and then signed for Celtic. He's only 23 and is unlikely to have had the same standard of coaching as many of his peers. He's had a season of improved coaching and his development will continue at Aberdeen. It was unfortunate for him that his introduction to Celtic came when there were so many questions over the LB position and this led to him being perhaps rushed into the team under a significant weight of fan and personal expectation. He appears to have the character, intelligence and talent to make it and hopefully he'll be back and ready for 1st team football at the end of the season where he's instrumental in taking points off the paupers.

Also joined us just after the LoI season had only just finished, so never really got any settling in period as such 26, as straight into expecting to deliver on a much higher stage also.
Still think that there is potential for scales to become a good player for us in the future and next season hopefully can give us the answers in a positive manner for us still.
Just felt that having him available for ourselves pre season could have been more beneficial to ourselves for next season imo, as never seen him suitable for a LB position for ourselves in the long run.
So hopefully something is still in the pipeline, or maybe Dan Murray could be potentially promoted to the 1st team squad but that could well be to early still
