I watched Robby Savage talk about his son last week mate when he was commentating on the Man Utd game and you could see he was oozing with pride when he came on as a sub for Man Utd,he explained how hard his son had to work in the academy to get to where he was at now but the thing I liked was when he said how sorry he felt for the other academy players who did not make it and he pointed out that he was one of them.Very true GS, and I also hope developments can also be improved all round in the football department.
Very exiting times ahead I believe, especially with the players bought into the club so far, and with so many it's still an unbelievable achievement that I wouldn't class any of them a failure yet even if a few still haven't shown just how much value they remain to the team still going forward.
However with every new signing and most being considered as going straight into the 1st team squad then in turn pushes the development of the younger players down the scale as such imo.
I know I keep stating that the development of the younger players within Scottish football is far beyond a joke these days and terrible to say that the likes of MJ can be wrote off so quickly when we has been prevented a proper chance with nothing on offer from missing so much development from lack of game time due to injury, the same could well apply to young Dembele now.
Also the development of young Monty could also stall now with potentially being pushed down the ranks with the quality of the extra players coming into the club.
I really do believe many of these younger players have already the ability to be able to play within the standard of the SPFL, even if they remain maybe 3rd choice at best in a certain position within our team still.
This gap still remains to big and very unfair to the development of younger players and nothing seems to be done to change the mentality within Scottish football still.
These are potential players to try and play the modern game at a far higher level than what most of the hammer throwers produce week on week without an ounce of football within them still.
If it means we have to loan out many of these potential players of the future then sobeit, to see if they can actually handle Scottish football and improve the standard currently then I would be in favour of doing so big time.
Show they can actually produce the desired level and be in a far better position to go to the next level of being able to match the demands of a club of our size.
In general our supporters do give the younger player good support but in turn we can be very quick to write them off altogether also, so we as supporters can't get that balance right and can't be expecting every young player to show what Ralston has surprised everyone with his achievements so far this season.
It has been something we as a club are very proud of achieving with the younger players making that break though to become huge stars for us over the years and something we stand to lose with the Scottish leagues being the way that they remain.
I hope Ange and Nicholson can address this failure within Scottish football by providing a much better pathway for the younger players to actually succeed in living the dream with our club instead of there progress been halted so unfairly which is on offer at present to most of them still
aye ye hiv...noo
Your post made me think of this article I read earlier. This is a list of Ange's signings......Who ever thought after last season.....This would have happened..... For one of Celtics managers, to choose 'his' players, and getting them all, in such a short period of time.....must be up there, with one of the best transfer dealings for our club.....And .....there may be more to come....

The difference GS is the younger player in England still gets the opportunity by playing in a u23 league where a level of consistency can be developed to gain a trust in a manager that he is worthy of taking that step up to the higher level, we got nothing in Scotland so it maintains as a sink or swim attitude still in place.I watched Robby Savage talk about his son last week mate when he was commentating on the Man Utd game and you could see he was oozing with pride when he came on as a sub for Man Utd,he explained how hard his son had to work in the academy to get to where he was at now but the thing I liked was when he said how sorry he felt for the other academy players who did not make it and he pointed out that he was one of them.
He explained that the success rate for a young boy going through the academy to the first team was 0.93%,, less than 1 in every hundred which is not good to hear.
The problem these Bhoys face when they are at big clubs is,does the manager have enough faith in them to put them in and the answer is usually no.
I look at the academy Bhoys Ange has brought in and wonder would they have played if his hand had not been forced to play them,I dont think so,I believe Ange wants his strongest team on that park every time we play and I think 99% of managers do the same.
You mentioned young Bhoy Dembele mate, what a fantastic talent he was I thought when I first saw him play for the Celtic boys team he was going all the way but he has not had that wee bit of luck needed along with the fantastic skill he has,he now has to get himself fit again after 7 months out but when he does that he has to overcome an even bigger obstacle than the one he faced under Lenny, the Japanese trio and any other midfield signings Ange might make.
IMO there is too much pressure on managers of clubs like Celtic to deliver the silver and this is why the young Bhoys need to be very special before they will get to sit on the first team bench..
Until then John I think we will do what all big clubs do,buy ourselves out of trouble..
until that special Bhoy comes along.

The only recent one would be Michael O’Halloran.Apart from Mo Johnston.....how many 'celtic minded' players have played for them.....
Could do with refreshing the memory with the amount we received in on transfers just to highlight the brilliant work that has been done so far on this rebuild lennono, if possibleThis is a list of Ange's signings......Who ever thought after last season.....This would have happened..... It also shows us plebs that u don't always need a D.O.F eitherDone deal- report claims that Celtic have clinched signing number five
The Daily Record is claiming that Celtic have clinched the signing of Riley McGree from MLS side Charlotte FC.videocelts.com
Never in my wildest dreams did I think we could have reached this level
in the transfer market while Liewwell is still around.
This tells me Ange and Nicholson have a great understanding, long may it continue.

Alfie Conn remember him.?Jock Stein, Kenny Dalglish, Danny McGrain, Murdo McLeod, Paul Lambert.
I could go on. All players who came to Celtic as bluenoses, but signed for us.
I've never known anything like it in all my years watching Celtic. The money the board are allowing Ange to spend shows their commitment to his philosophy. I'm sure future values of the players he's got in so far will soar. At last the board seem to be seeing the bigger picture. This is a list of Ange's signings......Who ever thought after last season.....This would have happened.....
