Aberdeen appeal two-match ban offered to defender Scott McKenna
Last Updated: 04/10/18 6:41pm

Aberdeen have appealed a two-match ban that was offered to Scott McKenna for an incident involving Celtic player Odsonne Edouard.
McKenna was issued a notice of complaint from the Scottish FA for "serious foul play" following a waist-high tackle on Edouard during Aberdeen's 1-0 defeat to Celtic on Saturday.
Aberdeen announced the appeal on their website with a short statement that read: "It came as a total shock to learn that Scott has been cited for an incident where the referee deemed there was no offence committed and we have subsequently lodged an appeal."
Following the game, Hoops' boss Brendan Rodgers described the challenge that saw the French striker limp off the pitch as "very reckless".
If McKenna's appeal fails the defender will miss Aberdeen's next two games against St Mirren at home, and then away to league leaders Hearts.

This is exactly the sort of thing I can get on board with ripping the SFA about. Totally inconsistency.

I’m sure after our statement, this will be the question asked. The only way out of it is if they drop any action against McKenna.

There was a big difference
McKennas one clear dangerous foul was a player giving 100%
where as, the moreloss thug given SFA free licence for sevco along with canydyass, carried our pre meditated purposeful cowardly off the ball incidents, at least three of which ~ the thugs stamp and elbow and candyass studs kick on Brown from the side in the drop ball (he was not even involved in) were as likely to cause injury.

just seen close up of the drop ball on youtube ,that in it's self should be held up and asked for an explanation

see the sfa want all clubs involved in the ref debate and not a one on one with Celtic

Maxwell trying to dilute the argument already

I missed that Candyass thug incident myself watching live, so many were going on, but presumably Beaton saw it!!

Unfortunately the weak and late statement by our board, kind of leads and excuses the SFA.

We certainly have no smart legal writers working for us, or worse!
Celtic Football Club is surprised that there will be no disciplinary action taken by the Scottish FA regarding the incidents during the match on December 29, which have been widely addressed in the media.

It is reported that no action was taken because the match referee saw all of the incidents in question.

Given that the referee took no action at the time, this tends to suggest that such conduct, which in one instance led to a Celtic player, Anthony Ralston, being injured, is acceptable in Scottish football. That cannot be right.

On the day, Celtic did not play well enough to win the match, something we accept. However, this issue goes beyond the result of the match.

Celtic is not the only club this season to raise concerns regarding the standard of officiating at matches in Scotland, concerns which have also been shared by many commentators on the game.

In order to fully understand what is going on, Celtic, our supporters, Scottish clubs and the general Scottish football public need transparency in these matters, and we therefore call on the Scottish FA to allow the referee, John Beaton, to explain these decisions publicly as well as any match officials involved in other similar circumstances.

In the meantime, we have requested a meeting with Scottish FA Chief Executive, Ian Maxwell, and the Association's Head of Refereeing.

Why write the second last paragraph that way, when the reality is only Celtic fans and club care and should care about Beaton trying to explain how he judged these thug incidents.

To be somewhat fair, any human being would be intimidated among fraud kings stadium full of zombies! but was he simply intimidated or more incompetent or a combination of both and bias along with at least one linesman!

He also should explain if he was drinking and smiling along with sevco fans that night!
If innocent enough or incorrect then explain it.

You sometimes wish the SFA would catch these people who they talk about abusing the refs. Just saying like!!
