A Passion Called Hate

There is a marvellous magical mysticism surrounding Glasgow Celtic. There is an intangible, indescribable aura that sprinkles stardust over those who support the club and it is also very contagious, as it has a fine habit of pouring that essence upon many others who come to visit our temple for a brief visit.

From extremely humble and charitable origins, Glasgow Celtic has blossomed into something beautiful and that beauty is admired throughout the world and acknowledged as being something very, very special.

I don't know what the special sauce is that makes Celtic what it is, but if I were to hazard a guess - I would suggest that much of it comes from a mostly incredible set of fans who fill that vast stadium with their absolute love for their team.

It is not the dismissal or hatred of others which fills Celtic Park on match day - it is predominantly the adoration and love for those who wear our Hoops that fuels and creates that incredible energy.

We have our share of rockets and we can also show frustration and annoyance on occasion, but for the most part - Celtic Park is a place where dreams are made and brought to life.

In the common vernacular of Scotland (and a little bit beyond), Glasgow Celtic are referred to as the "Catholic team" and - to be fair - there are many fans who make the pilgrimage to Parkhead who are born into Catholicism and who are comfortable in the skin they inhabit, but to just describe Glasgow Celtic as a Catholic team pays a great disservice to the hundreds of thousands of non-Catholic supporters and players who have graced that stadium throughout history.

Celtic are more than just a club because Celtic is more than just an extension of a religious institution. In fact, if there is religion bring practiced at Parkhead - then that religion itself would be called Celtic, because it is Celtic we are all devoted to and Celtic that we all have faith in.

There is no condition, nor congenital trait that marks anyone out as a Celtic fan. Any race, culture or creed is welcome and any faith or religion is accepted.

You don't have to be a member of a clandestine organisation and you don't have to pledge your dedication to an anachronistic monarch who serves no practical purpose.

There are no barriers to admittance regarding support for Our Club. Come one, come all and you will be welcomed with open arms and embraced as a brother or sister.

The reason I mention this is, that in another part of Glasgow, there is another football club who have a significant number of passionate fans, but the fundamental difference is that their passion is driven and fuelled by he hatred and intolerance of those who don't subscribe to their blinkered and narrow point of view.

It is not the love of their own team which compels them - it is the absolute fear and loathing of others which gets their juices flowing.

A beautiful and historic city in Spain is about to be subjected to this hateful bile and toxicity. Architecturally beautiful chapels and cathedrals are in grave danger of being damaged extensively and many of the citizens of this historic place are going to be threatened and castigated for having the audacity and nerve to support a football club who wear green and white.

Instead of celebrating a significant achievement in reaching a European final, this marsuding horde of peepo will be celebrating their perceived superiority and mastery over others.

They are not infused with love - they are driven by a passion called hate and that is why I give thanks every day that I am not, and never will be, one of them.

SOS (Save Old Seville)

Memories were made in 2003. Bonds were created between Celtic fans and the people of Seville that, I'm sure, will last forever.
Thousands of our fans decended on their beautiful city. And for allowing our fans to enjoy their city, in turn the people of Seville were given the pleasure of seeing what it means to be part of our wonderful club.
Celtic fans drank their bars dry, put on a show for the locals and when it was all done, we shook hands and left their beautiful city exactly how we found it.
To the people of Seville I say beware. We are not all the same. You only have to put their name into any search engine to see what is coming your way.
For the 1st time in my life, I hope that the sevco fans don't show the world what they are. I hope the people of seville don't have to go through what so many other city's around Europe have gone through.
I hope the memories of the people of Seville aren't tarnished by the actions of the Scots coming their way. We are not like them and they are not like us.

Lubo, wouldn't it be grand if our expectations were wrong and the sevvies practiced some civility for once.

Unfortunately - they are what they are and there is nothing that can change their feral nature. They thrive on being despised and they revel in being revolting.

In spite of how I often come across in comments, the truth is, is that I could care less about OFFC. They don't impact my life in any way and they are only relevant in the sense that they are our serious competition in domestic football. Beyond that - I couldn't give two hoots about them.

However - I do genuinely fear for the good people of Seville, as I don't foresee any outcome which doesn't include hatred, aggression and violence. Even if they don't inflict it upon Seville or Frankfurt fans, they'll most likely end up fighting among themselves over some misperceived slight.

I wish it weren't so, but it's the rage that motivates them.

We all know if they lose it will be carnage.
That is an absolute given.
But we also know they are capable of the same behaviour before a ball is kicked and even if they win.
Since they never receive a word of criticism back home from our national press or media pundits, often with fans of other clubs and the local police offered up as the instigators, and no sanctions from our governing body, it will continue to be so.
Someone will pay the ultimate price some day at the hands of these animals, and that will be on those who sat back and did nothing.

Whilst typing up that last post, I had GB News on the telly.
Tell me if I’m being paranoid but…
Straight after their wee piece on Sevco reaching the final and saying we will be with our reporter in Glasgow later, returning to the presenters in the studio, his very next words were “ remember, we are the people’s channel”……coincidence🤔

There is no such thing as coincidence, mate, especially in the media world.

Whoever worded that report knew exactly what they were doing, but as you pointed out in your previous comment - it's a familiar narrative among the Scottish and British press corps.

No checks and balances. No objective reporting, just constant hun propaganda.

Couldn't agree more B4l. Also have to say, people have already paid the ultimate price. Even in the recent past.

The Scottish MSM are without doubt complicit in, if not encouraging, then certainly ignoring the poisonous, hateful diatribe spewed from the mouths of the gutter culture on a weekly basis.

In my life I can only recall two journalists who had the guts and sense of decency to tell the truth about the pernicious Ibrox subculture.

One was, and is, the much maligned Graeme Spiers. The other was Ian Archer.
I think Ian Archer described them as being a permanent embarrassment and occasional disgrace. Something along those lines.

While it would be true to say we get the occasional outbreak of actual journalism, it amounts to no more than tokenism. A fleeting burst of plastic outrage.

Apologies for repeating myself here, but that's why I really detest the small minority of louts who purport to be Celtic supporters. All they do is let the MSM off the hook. One's as bad as the other ? Aye right !

Totally correct…the blind eye is always turned when it comes to Sevco but they are always waiting on some of the morons purporting to be Celtic fans to apply the false equivalence narrative.

The litmus test for arseholitis can be taken from any cross-section of society and certainly isn't exclusive to football fans.

I think it would be reasonable to suggest that 1 in every 20 folk would meet the criteria for being a bona-fide arsehole with little, or no, redeeming features.

Those same numbers would apply to those within the Celtic support and because of the size and scale - then simple arithmetic would suggest that that's a fair amount of arseholes. I still believe that as a body of people, we are more prepared to self-regulate that element and prevent them from being a majorly disruptive force.

However - those simple stats don't seem to stand up to scrutiny if you apply them to those that frequent the midden and pledge allegiance to whoever the club-de-jour is in that part of the world.

The frequency of arseholitis is off-the-scale there, to such an extent that I would estimate that AT LEAST half of their support is infected with the aforementioned condition (and that's a pretty conservative estimate).

The other feature over there, is that they don't self-regulate this anti-social behaviour, in fact - they actively encourage and embrace the arsehole element of their support........from root-to-branch and basement-to-ceiling.

They take pride in offending civilised society and wear their offensiveness as a badge of dishonour. They have infiltrated all of the legal and media institutes in this country and it will take many more generations to come before we can even dilute the density of that gene pool.

I personally think we've done a good thing arming Ukraine to help defend it's population against the invading Russian hordes, should we consider doing the same for the innocent people of Seville?
The gardia Seville will know what’s coming, they’ll remember Barcelona in 72, Manchester in 08 and George square 21, the police will come to the “party” prepared riot gear, baton’s drawn, oan horseback, tear gas, water cannons……the poor wee auld an disabled hun fans are gonna get a severe doing fae the catholic police 👮‍♂️ 👍👏👏👏🙏🙏🔨

Well said Bellshill bhoy, 💪
They better put a ring of riot police round all the Cathedrals and Churches in Seville and make sure it’s shut tight so the marauding sevco fans cannot do damage to beautiful Seville.

I personally disagree about anything ‘good’ about killing whether it be Ukrainian or Russian people. I think you just cross big Red Lines joking about a fucking war

1. Big screen TV (it wisney working so we had to riot)
2. Chelsea fans (they were dressed as huns it wisney us)
3. Over zealous policing (the papish polis picked on us)
4. Provocative park benches (they cunts were asking for it)

Well, just between me and you, I'm away to hire a Mr Blobby suit, paint it purple and see Mehmet aboot getting some XXXXXL knock-aff hun gear so I can go marauding through Seville and blame it on them.

I telt an acquainthun that they have loads of oranges in Seville and the bammy quarter-wit thinks that the order are in residence over there.

Let's face it.......they're gonna try and blame it on Celtic fans infiltrating their filthy ranks, so when in Rome.......go to St Peter's Square (might have to avoid that line or they might get suspish).

If Stevie can pull the sash over their eyes with his Shadow1 disguise, then I'm hopeful that turning up resembling a big fat purple baldy glaiket-looking muppet will allow me to blend in seamlessly.
