IF AJAX CAN DO THIS WHY CANT WE AIM TO GET TO THE GROUPS EVERY YEAR.
This proves that Lawwell and the Board lack ambition. Ajax' game plan can be replicated by Celtic. Rather than try to hold onto the Boyatas of the world and cross our fingers, prepare for successon IN ADVANCE so we sell from strength. That is the key to Ajax's business model.
We let our back situation atrophy by being penny wise and pound foolish on signings through 2018 and lost L40mm plus L10mm for selling Boyata on as a result. I now think all that dysfunction was catalyzed by the Compper fiasco. Lawwell brought him in and Rodgers froze him out. So Lawwell stopped providing alternatives to force Rodgers hand or teach him a lesson. There were rumours that Compper did some questionable things personally that offended Rodgers. That Lennon is now talking about giving him a chance tells you that Celtic management did not share Rodgers distaste. Petty bullshit like that from both Lawwell and the manager holds us back.
Job 1 should be qualify for the ECL groups every year and the rest of our strategy should evolve from that.
And post Ajax Real Madrid NO CELTIC MANAGEMENT SHOULD EVER BE ALLOWED TO SAY WE CANT COMPETE IN EUROPE.
