Let the People Sing - Altogether Now

You never hear much from the Brits about Connolly fighting for and getting support from socialists from both sides of the community in the Belfast Dockers strike in 1911. No wonder the empire killed this man the first chance they could. It goes against the narrative of mad Catholics and Protestants being at war with each other over religion. I'll admit bigotry was a part of the problem, but only because the Brits made it so.

Thank you! James Connolly has been a hero of mine since I was a teen, and very rarely does this ever come up.

Remember the polis during the Miners strike when we were at Polkemmet Colliery. Asking me if I was Fenian striker cause that’s the ones he wanted to lift told him aye but you’re too fat to catch me ya big fanny. He tried but I was right I was fit back then. Seems Oranges canny run.

Laughed so hard I woke up my daughter. Great story, JamSam67.

My partner took me to Dublin last year for my birthday. Did the tour of the GPO (amazing) and visited kilmainham jail and did the tour...one of the most amazing experiences of my life. It was an emotional tour...anyway the tour guide was brilliant. She was very passionate about her history. We stood in the court yard where the brits murdered the signatories of the Proclamation of the Irish Republic and, although she had done the tour a thousand times, you could tell by the way she spoke that it was more than just a tour to her. She brought some of the tourist to tears telling them of how James Connolly was carried in to be shot...amazing really isn't it. One man's terrosrists is another man's hero. Fuck the arseholes that tell me I cant sing about Irish rebels and heroes. Fuck the arseholes that call me sectarian for doing so.
