Leipzig v Celtic - All comments here

We need a positive, controlled, and highly focused effort from every single playerā€¦..no mistakes, no passengersā€¦..we have to show up and be on it from start to finishā€¦..and we simply have to take our chancesā€¦..
Agreed imatim, also think we should all remember that if were being honest with ourselves , we're a season ahead of schedule.

Whilst of course I'm hoping for a positive outcome and progression even through 3rd place from the group.

In reality this is a feeler European campaign, if that makes sense.
To hold us in better stead for next season where if we can keep this group together we will be a far stronger proposition than now.
What we've done so far has been commendable, putting it lightly.
For if we come through this group it would surely have to rank highly amongst Celtic achievements.

The experience gained from this season's European campaign for the likes of young Welsh, Abada, Jota, and many more is something that money cannot buy, its invaluable.

We have experienced international players like Haksabanovic who had never played at this level.
Only Hart, Calmac, Forrest and Ralston ( possibly JJ but not sure of that) have any experience of playing at the highest level of club football.

It would be extraordinary should we progress , it really would.
So while we aim high I am still realistic and have the SPFL as our main goal.
Aquitting ourselves well will be a good marker of how far weve come.
We are of course rank outsiders to progress and that suits us fine.

Ultimately we cannot take our eye off the big prize , the Scottish title and straight back into the group stages of next season's champions league where we will be far more prepared for what lies ahead.
This has to be the priority for us this season.

Its today the excitement is really kicking in, we are facing a stronger Leipzig than theRangers faced last season as they have Timo Werner, flopped at Chelsea but we know hes quality.
We have a habit of delivering the result no one thought possible and that's still to come, I'm sure we'll see it yet.
Weve produced results with Celtic side's not as strong as this one.
May tonight be one of them

Thereā€™s a lot riding on this game for meā€¦..a positive result would give the team and the Support a big lift and the positive psychological effect on everyone would be just what we needā€¦..we need a big performance from every single player for 90+ minutesā€¦..itā€™s what the Celtic shirt demandsā€¦

RB Leipzig v Celtic: "Itā€™s fun watching them," Marco Rose praises Celtic...

I could be wrong ,( not being a manager of an elite champions league club etc), but from what I read into Marco Rose's comments I have the feeling that he intends for his side to put pressure on calmac.
I take this view by how he singled out our captain and how he gets things going and the way he said theyve ' prepared for that'

Of course preparing to pressure calmac and actually doing it are two different things entirely.
I'm sure Ange will be totally aware of this and the little mind games that go on through the media platforms.
" your team are so brilliant....just like us and how much we love you and the style of football you play ".
I'm sure theres truth in this but Ange will pay little attention to the niceties delivered our way.
He said the same before the Madrid game " I'd rather he says it after the game" .

Must admit I'd have been far happier with Tedesco still in charge than Rose.
Rose is already a self confessed admirer of Celtic F.C and his Salzburg side gave us a lesson a few seasons back and that was no ordinary Celtic side under BR though he was perhaps slightly naive in Europe for the squad we had.

Everyone respects Celtic and these things are nice to hear but its water off a big Anges back, we must take care of ourselves.

I'm assuming CCV is out so I would pick a slightly more pragmatic formation:

Hart
Juranovic Welsh Jenz Taylor
Abildgaard
O'Riley Hatate MacGregor
Kyogo Jota

Now I don't really expect Ange to deviate from his 4-3-3, but I'd offer more protection to our defence by playing a more defensive midfielder.

That's interesting BB , would require
a 4-5-1 off the ball and back to 4-3-3 with the ball mibbe?
Gives us one winger though and is asking a lot of JJ and Taylor to get up and down the flanks, is an option though

I think we will see more of what we know.

I'll say ( no tabs cos I'm using my phone šŸ˜›)

Hart
Juranovic
Welsh
Jenz
Taylor
McGregor
Hatate
Oriley
Jota
Maeda
Kyogo

Subs I think we'll see;

Abada
Abildgaard
Haksabanovic
Turnbull/Mooy
Giakoumakis.

Dont be surprised for a surprise šŸ¤”
Ange always seems to have at least one.
Could come in the form of Abada starting , Haksabanovic starting or
Abildgaard starting.
One thing Ange seems to be predictable in is not being predictable

Edit : Any one of those ( excluding Mooy and Turnbull ) I wouldnt be overly surprised should they start,
especially Abada who is a big game player and must be chomping to put right his below par performance against Madrid

Aye JamSam I forgot about that and think youre correct.
It wouldnt be the first time this has occurred in champions league matches for Celtic, I have a wee bell ringing now you've reminded me of Kayal and Bitton missing through the same situation.
Thanks for the update, šŸ‘

Good news with Giamakous participating with the team in training.
Agreed, the big man is not only be a threat going forward, set pieces etc, but he's also adept at holding up, and shielding the ball, when we're on the move
The midfield must track back helping out the back line, as I have no doubt Leipzig, will try to stretch us
Maybe the Abildgaard will get his chance, but as long as we are focused, there's a chance for us to gain 3 points on the break

COYBIG

I know Ange will probably start with Maeda but for me he is offering very little at the moment.....both him and Josip have pace on the right but tend to give the ball away regularly when there are good options available....is it just me that sees this ?

We are really vulnerable at the back with both our first choice central defenders out... CCV not making this one will be telling I'm afraid.
Feels like Leipzig are on the up with new mngt in charge. I would be delighted to be proven wrong but our current lack of being clinical and the missing bodies doesn't bode well. A bit negative here but I'm managing my own expectations against a very good team who will be desperate for their first points on the board. Tough night ahead if I'm being honest
