Scott Allan v Celtic midfield

The Scott Allan situation really has me at a loss to comprehend. Whilst we are haggling over 300 grand for an unknown striker we are also about to let Allan, one of the most coveted midfielders in our division go for a reported 275k? I read with interest BR on video celts saying that whilst he'd played well on loan, his teamates we're playing better. Surely he cant be talking of Ntcham, Mulumbu or Kouassi? None of the aforementioned have done anything of note. Granted Mulumbu was thrown in at the deep end v Leipzig into a game travelling at 100mph but he was a panic buy imo anyway. If Allan wasnt on our books we'd be first in line for his signature. His stats are 2nd to very few if any in the SPL and when BR says hes a great guy and works hard i think hang on ive heard this before (Leigh Griffiths for one) im of the feeling if Christie can make the breakthrough just when we need him surely Allan can also? To let this bhoy go for the reported 275k surely would represent the clubs worst piece of business since bangura or even Kouassi though perhaps unfair on the latter as weve seen practically nothing of him. Offer the bhoy a deal keep him on the books its a matter of time before he does breakthrough and selling to our rivals is a terrible piece of misjudgement. Allan has been thoroughly professional in his mostly silent stance. I 100% believe him better than 2 at least of the 3 i mentioned and if broony leaves calmac to take his position or Kouassi then we'll be needing him. What is going on?

Tbh i get what your saying and agree i would take him over kouassi

I know a lot of fans rate him but i think hes a headless chicken.

Thing is we cant afford to give repeated chances.

Not in pursuit of the 10iar

Players need to step up when their chance comes knocking.

We’re strong in the midfield area. But we need a CH who would run through a brick wall.
Scott Allen likes Hibs, NL likes him. Swap him for Ryan Porteous plus cash he’s definitely one for the Future. And doesn’t back down from the Zombies like Boyata did.
Don’t like that we’re helping Hibs or that wanker Petrie. But Ryan will be a good fit for the Hoops. ?

I fkn love ryan porteous.

He has serious swagger and could be developed whilst hitting the ground running.

He is a serious grafter on field and covers every blade of grass.

Whats not to like.

Pretty much this. SA time at Celtics done, let him go and concentrate on other positions I think.

Tbf though Maria the bhoys had 3 starts his appearances have come from the bench i honestly think he's got the talent to do a Christie there's striking parallels between the two's celtic careers
He's talented but Brendan must see something we dont

Ryan christie came off the bench and smashed it. I like scott allan i think he conducts his business like a consumate professional.

He isn’t a moaner and i genuinely wished he had smashed it.

The fact is he didn’t and yet i know he’s a cracking player who works hard but who knows what is going on behind the scenes.

Scott Allan, Eric Sviatchencko, Tony Ralston.

Three players I thought were good enough for the Hoops, but BR thought otherwise.

Thankfully, Ralston's back in favour but almost by default due to injuries.

Always thought Scott Allan was a right good footballer who could develop his game to a consistent top-level like Calmac.

And I still believe Big Eric is a better all-round defender than Boyata.

However, boss-man makes the calls, wins the trophies.

Regards Porteous - a much better bet than £7 million-rated McKenna.

I did rate ES, wish he wasn’t away and think he could have made a different.

Ralston for me though isn’t going to make it. He’s fine for some cover just now and filling a gap but long term I can only see him at another Scottish club carving out a decent living.

Aye i agree with that though Christie didnt smash it not at first it took time for him to adjust. Like allan most appearances off the bench very few starts more even than the 3 Allan got i dont think hes been given the same opportunity as Christie who tbf was absent most appearances until murrayfield

Ryan Porteous has a swagger about him, has enough dig to be involved and just laughs in opponents faces.

He reminds me of Broony. Want him for the hoops.

Allen could have filled in for Rogic if the manager believed in him would probably last the full game. He doesn't look to have a future here which is hard on him and he gets on with it don't heat him moaning like others have in the past if he is to be sold then good luck to him

I think our manager is very stats driven. I think he looks at a players stats then makes his mind up about him. Could be these players stats were deemed inferior to others in the squad. Don't know that for a fact, could be one explaination though.

Scott Allan for me is a good midfielder who could’ve been made into great midfielder giving the(proper)chance like others,,but one bit of gossip a heard after we signed him was that he had a breathing problem which affected him after our heavy training sessions,,,,,only gossip tho.

He looks like a genuinely decent fella and never heard a Celtic fan speak badly of him.

Regardless of whats in the stars for him he will have the blessing of the Celtic support willing him on to do well.
